buns, bad booze and the superbowl
It rained all weekend here in Hangzhou. This prevented me from doing any hiking or biking. I did, however, go with the other students over to Andy's last night for dinner.
Here is a photo of David, Josh, Aaron and Xi hanging out in the kitchen.
And the gals: Wei, Monica and Lisa.
We goofed around, drank really bad, cheap rice liquor, and ate all the desserts before dinner. Xi is holding a sweet red bean bun in his hand. These rule.
There was also a bag of Peking Duck flavored potato chips (tasted kind of like barbeque but duckier) and a bag of Cucumber flavored potato chips (tasted like CUCUMBER!!!), dumplings and buns of a large variety and fresh oranges and lychee (yum!).
At one point in the night, there were five camera flashing all at once.
Josh had the ingenious idea of steaming the buns in the rice cooker and did a great job cooking us dinner.
Today people woke up early to watch the Superbowl. The announcements are in chinese and they don't show the commercials so I got bored and came to work. Josh and Aaron are determined to have a two man riot in the streets if the Patriots win. If they get some help, they might be able to overturn a moped or small van. Otherwise I guess they'll just have to beat eachother up.
Here is another photo of the giant Mao statue (I never get bored of it). Mao is a bit wet in this one.
If it stays dry today, I'm going to bike down to West Lake. West Lake is so famous that it is on the Yi Yuen (Y 1) bill.
These three things stick out of the lake near one of the islands. During the autumn festival they're supposed to capture the moonlight and be absolutely beautiful.
